    Part-Time Deputy Manager

    Must hold a level 3 Qualification, Maths and English above grade 4 and have Lead experience for this position!

    MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Deputising for the Nursery Manager and be responsible for the daily running and administration of the nursery in his/her absence, adhering to the Policies and Procedures of Bluebell Children’s Nurseries and compliance with the Children act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and EYFS statutory framework.

    Having a keyholder responsibility.

    To be aware of, and respond to, the company's child protection, safeguarding and confidentiality policies.

    Assist the Manager and participating in arranging regular parents evenings, publicity, open weekends and children’s outings ensuring effective marketing.

    To attend staff and team meetings where appropriate.

    Assist the manager in ensuring effective staff recruitment following Bluebell Children’s Nurseries’ recruitment procedures. Supervising staff and students, conducting regular staff assessments, recognizing training needs, monitoring training, and developing teamwork. Organising of regular staff meetings and in-house training.

    Assisting the manager to ensure a tier system of management is in place and that duties are delegated fairly. Maintaining staff ratios and ensuring staff are deployed effectively to carry out the correct preparation of bottles and babies’ feeds, nappy changes, laundry duties and supervision of meals.

    Supporting and liaising with the Manager on a daily basis to ensure the nursery day runs smoothly.

    Monitoring the planning and preparation of activities to develop all aspects of the child’s individual development in a stimulating atmosphere. Ensuring the nurseries curriculum is fully embedded in each room and understood by all.

    Be responsible for gaining the views of the children through regular questionnaires and using the information to inform the planning of activities.

    Monitor staff observations, next steps and track children’s development to enable us to identify when extra support may be required.

    Ensuring that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the nursery rooms, kitchen and equipment are carried out according to the Policies and Procedures and risk assessments.

    Work closely with the Manager to monitor occupancy levels and engage in parent show arounds.

    Build positive relationships with families accessing our services, ensuring high quality service is always delivered. Parent queries should always be responded to in a timely manner.

    Working with the Manager to maintain administrative records as directed by the Operations Manager and Director.

    Be the nurseries Health and Safety representative, keeping and monitoring accident, incident and risk assessment records and ensuring the first aid equipment is fully stocked and in date.

    Be responsible for tracking children’s attendance and keeping a record of this.

    To keep up to date with developments in childcare and legislations through regular training as appropriate.

    Ensure that the whole nursery team are offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.

    To assist in the ordering of equipment and ensuring it is maintained to a high standard.

    To implement the EYFS to the highest standard.

    Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager and Operations Manager.
